Artiste explains why he mimicked Sarkodie, EL, others on ‘Connect’

The five minutes, fifteen seconds song, produced by Unklebeatz had Medikal rap in a way which sounded like the aforementioned artistes.

Rapper, Medikal

Speaking on Pluzz FM’s AM Pluzz on the reason behind the piece, Medikal said he admires the artistes and wanted to do something different from the existing.

“Those are my favourite emcees in Ghana. I listened to them and they talk about things I relate to. I wanted to do something classic. I wanted to acknowledge their talent. It is just to show that I acknowledge them. I wanted to do something nobody has ever done,” he said.

Medikal indicated that it took him less than an hour to record the song although he felt lazy at the time he was composing it.

“We recorded it in 34-35 minutes. I wrote EL and Sarkodie’s verses two months ago, I was feeling lazy to continue so just like a week ago, I completed the other five verses. I’m the type of person who likes writing. It wasn’t part of my plans to drop this song… I didn’t even know it was going to be a big deal. I thought it was normal,” he stated.

In relation to how the artistes have responded to the song, Medikal said it has been positive. He mentioned that he has received commendations from Joey B and Pappy Kojo while Kofi Kinaataposted the link to the song on his wall.

He added that he was yet to hear from the other artistes but was sure they will like the piece.
