Ghanaian Music has evolved, but with evolution comes partnerships. Here is the first part of our best collaborations ever made in Ghanaian music history.

Just like how bread goes exceptional with egg, jollof with “korkor”, waakye with “wele”, there are some combination of artistes that can never go wrong. By a wonderful collaboration, we’re talking about songs that make us go gaga, not the likes of the recent failed attempt by Shatta Wale & Tinny called “Ototo”.

By some musical wizardry, it seems some acts can never go wrong when they join forces, and for some, they only work better when they join forces with others (yes D-Black we’re looking at you). So in celebration of good music, here are our top collaborating musicians that never go wrong.

1. D Black & Joey B

Oh D Black, how we miss the days when loved to listen to you. Ok, we didn’t really like listening to him that much but anytime Black mingles with former label mate, Joey B, the magic that ensues would almost instantly become a banging hit. From the likes of “Vera, to “Alhaji and the mildly viral “Chop Kenkey”, it is almost saddening to learn that Joey B has parted ways with D Black’s label Black Avenue Musik.

2. Joey B & Pappy Kojo

Call these two the new kings on the Ghanaian music scene and you’d not be far from wrong, (though, we wonder how many kings the Ghanaian music scene can have). This is one of those collaborations where the duo are awesome even as single artists, but are even better when they join forces. From Realer No toWavethis duo is just the gift that keeps on giving.

3. Sarkodie & Shatta Wale

KING of Ghanaian rap and KING of dancehall? Of course you should expect some fire for them, and they do offer fire anytime they collaborate. Starting with “M3gye wo Girl” the duo have not stopped pleasing our ears despite Shatta Wale’s incessant screaming at time. The Dancehall Commando song solidified the harmony the two act present, becoming an instant hit after it’s release. More songs please?

4. Kwaw Kese & Sarkodie

“Buzanga, buzanga, buzanga, buzanga, buzanga… Ouagadougou”. Sarkodie with Kwaw Kese is an almost heavenly gift to anyone who love to see chemistry in Ghanaian collaborations. Please of you don’t agree, sit here and listen toYakubuBroke NiggasMani Da Woso.

5. Obrafour & M.anifest

Taking an almost background role to his rapping, Obrafour lays very good choruses when he features new artistes these days, proving that he is indeed a timeless Ghanaian music legend. However, an Obrafour, & M.anifest song is always set to drive your love for Ghanaian music through the roof. The duo’s No Shortcut To Heaven is still one of our personal best Ghanaian music videos out there and the duo’s Odasani proves that the two can almost never go wrong when they join forces together.

6. Sarkodie & Obrafour

And Sarkodie once again makes our list, but it’s almost undeniable that the artiste’s collaborations with Obrafour are some of the best songs available on the Ghanaian music scene. The duo proved their dexterity in Lifein Saa Okodie No, and also in Elijah.
