The death has been announced of veteran Ghanaian actor George Williams.
According to Starrfmonline.com, the octogenarian died on Sunday (July 31) at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
During his active years as an actor, Williams was a household name for his paternal roles in numerous films including “Genesis Chapter X” and “Bloody Kids”.

1. He was born on January 8, 1929
George Brigars Williams was born on January 8, 1929 to Nora Awoonor Williams and Francis Awoonor Williams.
2. He attended Adisadel College
He attended Adisadel College from 1941 to 1945 and was with Hamlyn House during his stay. He also attended Nelson College and Bacham & Tooting College of Commerce. During his time at Adisadel, he was an active member of the school’s sports team. He was a high jumper.
3. George worked with several media houses
‘Uncle George’ as he was affectionately called, had previously worked with the British Broadcasting Corporation, the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service, and the Liberian Advertising Service.
4. He is behind success TV series
The numerous film projects he worked on included the hit television series; Ultimate Paradise and the films Friday at 4:30, The Young and The Old and My Sister's Honour.
5. He was a teacher
Before his death, he taught acting at the Accra Film School, a private media training institute.
