Haunting: the newest way exes are annoying on social media

New way exes are annoying on social media.

There is apparently no end in sight to the development of trends in dating and social media. "Ghosting" was hard enough to wrap our heads around as something that actually warranted a name. But "haunting"? No. This has gone too far. But since it's actually a thing, we figured it was worthwhile for you to actually know what it is.

Apparently, "haunting" is when a past lover does something like watch your Snapchat, Facebook, or Instagram story or likes a photo of you on Facebook (or Instagram). Wait, is that a thing? Actually, doesn't matter, because this is stupid. It's basically defined as your ex trying to re-assert themselves into your life via social media in such a way that you receive a notification. And it's upsetting enough people to become a trend.

The Internet, such as this article from Mashable, is calling for it to end because it's tormenting people's hearts by having to see their ex's name pop up on their screen. These notifications are apparently the lit match to a fuse that is an emotional bomb that has exploded. Consider this empirical evidence that people literally have run out of things in their life to complain about.

So, "haunting" is the new "ghosting" and "it needs to stop" because why? What if you just blocked that person from your social media? Unfollowed them? Adjusted your privacy settings? Don't you have that power? Or is that bad social media form, as well? Oh, wait, that's ghosting. Right?

Granted, it's annoying when your ex tries to bring themselves back into your life. But it's also a part of life. Let's grow up a little here.
