Selfies sticks have been banned in selected public places

The device has come under all sorts of criticisms ranging from its interference in radio and communication signals to breach of security protocols.

The new selfie stick gadget recently adopted by most tech savvy people across the globe, has received a sudden hit from various governments.

Countries like France have banned the use of selfie sticks in various public locations.

AP reports that the device has been officially banned at the French and British museum. This is in addition to a growing list of tourist attractions across the globe, where similar bans have been implemented.

Official sources from the museum say the decision had to be taken in other to protect the artworks and visitors.

Italy, another country that has enforced the selfie stick ban, arrested two tourists last week for carving their names into the revered Colosseum wall, and taking a photo with a selfie stick. Rome’s Colosseum actually banned the selfie stick last month for security reasons.

Some countries that have also enforced the ban on use of selfie sticks in selected public areas include: The United States Of America, Britain, Austria and Brazil.

More countries are likely to enforce this ban based on security issues.
