Ghanaians on social media express support for stations showing 'adult movies'

The National Media Commission has been petitioned to take action against TV stations who show porn at night. However, it appears many Ghanaians actually appreciate that kind of content.

Some Ghanaians have openly shown support for the broadcast of pornography by some television stations.

Veteran Ghanaian broadcasters including Tommy Annan-Forson and James Kwasi Oberko have petitioned the National Media Commission (NMC) to take action against the television stations who broadcast pornography at night.

According to the petitioners, from May 26 and June 7, 2017, after 'painstaking monitoring', they observed that three television stations, ICE TV, TV XYZ and Thunder TV have been showing pornography which is a breach of the “Broadcasting Standard Guidelines against portrayal of sex...”

However, many Ghanaians appear to appreciate that kind of programming. One of the television stations cited by the petitioners, ICE TV, put up a post on Facebook on Wednesday May 10, 2017 asking their viewers if they should cease showing what they called ‘late night adult movies’.

“Thanks to all our cherished viewers across the world. Should we stop showing our late night adult movies?”
