Barack knows this, and Barack knows that, but Barack can't rap.

The American President announced his shortcoming to a group of teens visiting the White House on Thursday, July 23.

"My rapping skills are terrible," Obama said after showing up as a surprise guest at a mini-concert by rapper Wale in the East Room.

Obama has belted out blues and gospel at events, and he's famous for his verbal gifts. But he acknowledged he’s not good at everything.

"That's one thing I can't do is rap," he said. "I like rap but I cannot rap."

The remarks came at a conference hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama, the "Beating the Odds Summit," which aimed to help college-bound teens overcome obstacles and succeed in college. More than 130 students attended.

Obama added that he had "enough of a rap that I got Michelle to marry me."

Michelle Obama told the students her goal is "to make education cool a again"
