The spread of the Zika virus

Even though other European countries including Ireland and Denmark have reported infections, this is the first time Spain is recording a case involving a pregnant woman, statista.com has reported.

Zika is a mosquito-borne disease that has symptoms similar to the dengue and chikungunya viruses.

The World Health Organisation has indicated that Zika requires an urgent, united response considering the rate at which the virus is spreading so far and fast.
