The Medical Emergency unit of 37 Military Hospital will be closed down on Thursday (August 17, 2017) to allow for the fumigation of the facility.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Director of Public Relations at the hospital, Commander MA Larbi.

He said that the unit will be shut down from August 17, 2017, to enable them to carry out the routine fumigation exercise.

The unit is expected to be opened for normal operations and OPD services from Monday, August 21, 2017.

“The 37 Military Hospital will conduct a routine fumigation exercise at the Medical Emergency Unit, from Thursday 17th August to Sunday 20th August 2017. During the period, the unit will be shut down and not opened to the public. It will, however, be opened for normal operations and OPD services from Monday, 21st August 2017.”

He also urged the general public to cooperate with them fully for a smooth exercise.

“The public is kindly advised to take note and cooperate with hospital staff for a smooth fumigation exercise during the four day period.”

The fumigation exercise is not new to some hospitals in the country.

The Police hospital in Accra undertook a similar exercise in February 2017.

Fumigation is an essential exercise in hospitals. This helps get rid of suffocating or poisoning microbes or pests that might have occupied some spaces in the hospital.
