Doctors' return: Korle Bu patients happy

“These past days have been very difficult for me. But I thank God they are back. I really thank God”

Patients at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have expressed joy about the return of doctors to work.

Doctors resumed work today after they called off their three-week old strike last Friday following citing the pleas from the public as the reason for their decision.

Some patients at the Korle Bu teaching hospital told Pulse.com.gh they are happy about the outcome of events.

“I am delighted that the doctors are back. I came here to check my blood pressure and luckily I will leave here early today. I thank God”, a patient at the surgical and medical OPD at Korle Bu said.

“These past days have been very difficult for me. But I thank God they are back. I really thank God”, said another patient at the maternity OPD.

However, other patients believe it is a waste of resources for government to bring in Cuban Doctors due to the challenges in communications that may arise between the doctors and the patients.

“Tell president Mahama to ignore the Cuban doctors. They don't speak English, so what sort of language will they use in administering care," a patient added.

Meanwhile, pressure is still mounting on facilities at the Police hospital even though doctors at various hospitals have resumed work.

“Numbers haven't gone down; the place is all choked up." said Corporal Faustina Afia Nukpenu, PRO of the police hospital, "those who came stayed and never returned to their various point of care. We have needs. So we will appreciate benevolence from corporate organizations who can provide us with drip stands, beds, mattresses and any other thing that will complement our work." she added.
