A happy occassion at the Exhibition Assemblies of God Church in Dansoman, Accra almost turned sour when a lady in red stormed the wedding ceremony of a British Serviceman.

Accompanied by her Lawyers and several sympathizers, Emelia, who is a banker by profession, demanded that officiating ministers of the colourful ceremony halt blessing the wedding of Patrick Owusu and Beatrice Kessie.

Her reason, she narrated to Adom News Reporter, Kofi Assan was that she was engaged to Patrick and they were preparing to marry sometime this year.

According to her, she entered into a relationship with Patrick in 2013 when she travelled to the UK for her Masters Programme.

She became pregnant and conceived causing Patrick to ask his father who is in Ghana to go for a list of items for official marriage ceremony from her family.

To help make things better for Patrick, Emelia claims to have offered him an amount of GHC8,000 to purchase some of the items needed for the marriage ceremony.

“However, after coming for the list, I never heard from him again until I heard that he had distributed invitation cards for another wedding ceremony which would take place today…,” she said.

She continued that after learning of the wedding, she confronted Patrick who declined fatherhood of the seven month old baby thus leading the two to settle on going for a DNA test. This was approved by the church.

However, Patrick could not wait for the DNA results of the baby and demanded the wedding be blessed after signing at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

Despite demanding her pound of flesh from the soldier, she claimed that she has no problem with her former fiancée getting married but was only concerned with the clandestine way he was going about it.

“I have no problem with him getting married, why would he try to hide it from me…he even told my female pastor to go to hell…,” she said.

Thus on the D-day, the presence of armed personnel from the Ghana Police Service and from the British Army helped prevent an aggrieved Emelia from entering the auditorium to cause commotion but not from attracting the attention of the officiating ministers.

Her screams and struggles with the security personnel drew the attention of the officiating ministers into a meeting with her and her lawyers to demand the peaceful settlement of the feud which was likely to lead to the end of the wedding which had attracted dignitaries from Ghana and the United Kingdom.

While the army serviceman was locked up in a meeting to ensure his wedding was not cancelled, choiristers and other singing groups of the Assemblies of God Church were busily engaged helping the crowd to overlook the crisis meeting at the conference room of the church.

In one song after the other, the songstresses tried to pour some cold on the charged atmosphere but the several tunes of praise to God were not enough to allay the fears of the gathering.

Using whispers and social media platforms, they communicated to friends and loved ones of happenings in the church auditorium where they had been taken ‘hostage’ by an aggrieved woman seeking revenge for a love gone sour.

Though Adomonline.com could not immediately tell of the conclusion of the meeting between the several officiating ministers and Emelia and her team, the wedding resumed after several hours of delay.

The couple later exchanged vows to live with one another in peace to the admiration of the few who had come there to support the British serviceman.
