Van Goghs painting L’Allée des Alyscamps has set a new record as the highest price for one of artists paintings since 1998.

The painting, rows of poplar trees in autumn, which was painted in 1888, was completed a month before Van Gogh sliced off part of his ear.
Van Gogh's L'Allee des Alyscamps made a record for a landscape by the artist at auction, becoming the highest price paid for any work by Van Gogh since 1998.
The piece had been expected to fetch $40m (£26.4m).
