Two Dead In Ghastly Car Crash At Gomoa

Two drivers have died when their vehicles had a head-on collision at Gomoa Bewadze over the weekend.

The two drivers were pronounced dead on arrival at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.

Mr Dada Kwao, was the driver of the Scania truck, while George Tingana was driving the Man Diesel Bitumen Tanker.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) John Paul Akondi, Winneba District Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service confirmed to the Ghana News Agency on Sunday.

ASP Akondi said the accident occurred at about 9:30am, thus creating an eight-hour traffic jam on the portion of the Apam Junction- Winneba Road.

According to him, this compiled driver’s from Cape Cost towards Accra, to divert their route through Apam Junction and Agona Swedru, before coming back to the Winneba Junction.

The District MTTD Commander said the man diesel tanker loaded with bitumen, was from Takoradi to Accra, while the Scania truck was coming from the opposite direction when the incident occurred.

He added, all bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary.

According to ASP Akondi, the Police are investigating to establish the cause of the accident.
