Man Gets Stabbed By Wife's Alleged Lover

The accused, according to the prosecution led by Inspector E. O. Agysi, is purported to have committed the act during a fight with the complainant over a woman.

A young butcher at the James Town Abattoir in Accra has appeared before an Accra circuit court for allegedly stabbing his colleague with a knife.

The accused, Emmanuel Mensah, is said to have on March 17, this year at the James Town beach, stabbed one Emmanuel Nii Tagoe on the back and his left arm.

Appearing before the court presided over by Mrs. Jennifer Ahmed Myers, Mensah denied the offence and was accordingly granted bail in the sum of GHC18,000 with three sureties, to reappear on April 28, 2015.

The facts of the case as narrated by Inspector E. O. Agysi are that the complainant is a head porter while the accused is a butcher – both workers of the James Town slaughter house.

He said in February 2015, Nii Tagoe had information that Mensah was having amorous affair with his (Tagoe’s) wife.

Inspector Agysi indicated that Nii Tagoe as a result confronted the accused person and a misunderstanding ensured, which resulted into a fight.

The prosecutor said Mensah, unsatisfied with the outcome of the fight, on the said day at about 11am, armed with a knife, mobilized some thugs, attacked Nii Tagoe and stabbed him at the back and the left arm.

Inspector Agysi stated that Nii Tagoe sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where he is currently on admission receiving treatment.

He added that the two other men, who went to rescue Nii Tagoe, were also injured by the accomplices of Mensah.
