Houseboy stabs boss to death and set his body on fire

Vanwood Kofi Asante, who confessed to killing Samuel Kwabena Poku, 60, on Accra-based Peace FM said he drove the dead body to a site where he set the body on fire using petrol and dry leaves.

According to him, burning the body was a way of covering up that he had murdered his former boss.

The deceased, who was based in London, reportedly came to Ghana to attend a friend's funeral and oversee some investments.

After the incident, the suspects, who is currently in police cells, told the family of his former boss that he has gone out to meet some unnamed persons.

All attempt to reach him via telephone was unsuccessful.

Days later, the family reported to the Ofankor police that Mr Poku had gone missing.

On Wednesday, March 15, the body of the deceased was discovered at the Police Hospital morgue.

The body was discovered around Pokuase, Accra, by some residents, who sent the charred body to the hospital for autopsy.

The suspect said he first met the deceased when he wanted to work in a barbering salon. According to him, Mr Poku gave him his house to use for the salon, and also to maintain the place since he is not always around.

The suspect said he used his money to renovate the house and wanted a refund but his boss promised him only GHC1000 which he said was not enough.

A heated argument ensued between them in which Mr Poku asked the suspect to pack out.

According to him, he pushed him down and in midst of the struggle, he chanced on a knife in which he used to stabbed the man.
