Detective Billie Brown of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Cameron Laray Moore, 22, of Flat Creek Road, Black Mountain, with seven counts of statutory rape; Eugene Bernard Carson, 26, of John F. Bynums Road, Old Fort, with four counts of statutory rape; Gregory Antonio Quitman, 22, of Cedar Drive, Marion, with two counts of statutory rape; and Chad Marcus Logan, 25, of Burning Tree Court, Black Mountain, with one count of statutory rape.

All four suspects are in custody under $300,000 bonds.

Capt. Shanon Smith said on Wednesday that the incidents were reported to authorities on Feb. 8.

“We received information from the high school and another individual there was inappropriate sexual contact between this 15-year-old and these four guys,” Smith said.

Smith added that on some of the occasions that multiple crimes were committed by the defendants at the same time. According to warrants, the date of the first sexual offense was back in August of last year.

“Some of them had Facebook contact with her and then there were introductions made to some of the other guys,” Smith said.

Moore was previously charged with statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl in 2012 when he was 19, but the charge was dismissed because the age requirement by the state for the alleged rape was not sufficient between the victim and Moore, according to court records. He has also been previously charged with breaking and entering, assault, child abuse, and drug possession.

Logan has previously been charged with kidnapping, burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, and drug possession. Carson has drug possession charges on his record.
