A 15-year-old boy resident (name withheld) at Tafo Pankrono in Kumasi has been remanded in a juvenile home by the Ashtown Magistrate’s Court for allegedly strangling a 13-year-old girl to death.

The accused is alleged to have strangled, the younger sister of his elder brother’s wife,when a misunderstanding ensued between them.

The body of the deceased of was found having bruises on her neck, with her dress partly removed in the room where she, the accused and their siblings lived.
According to reports, on January 13, 2015, the accused and the deceased whose name was given as Afia had a confrontation over a key to their room before entering the room. Hours later the accused came out from to inform his elder brother that Afia is dying; when the two rushed into the room they meet the body of Afia in a motionless state.
The family later informed the police about the incident, when the police got to the scene they found out that the room was scattered with a broken television screen, which they say they suspect a foul play.

The police arrested the accused as the main suspect to the crime.
The boy’s plea was not taken, as the police awaited the autopsy report from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to determine the cause of death, whiles some investigation are still going on before he reappears in court.
