Man charged to court for stealing during flight

The suspect was caught searching the bag of another passenger and was handed to airport security officials on arrival.

A man who identified himself as Mbah Mike, has been nabbed  stealing from a fellow passenger on Business Class from Abuja to Enugu aboard Arik Air.

According to , Mbah Mike, was caught on Friday, November 28 aboard an Arik Air passenger flight W3 410 from Abuja to Enugu snooping through the luggage of another passenger and was handed over to security operatives at the Akanu Ibiam Airport, Enugu on arrival of the flight for interrogation

“The passenger left his seat on 3C and moved to overhead locker on seat number 1 D/F, opened the locker and was meddling with a bag. It was found that the bag belonged to another business class passenger. His own two bags were in the locker over his seat on 3C,” an Arik Air source told PM news.

The source went further to reveal that Mbah refused to make written statements to security operatives. Though the passenger whose bag he was caught snooping through revealed that nothing was missing from his bag, two other passengers of the flight however said their money was missing.

During interrogations at the Airport Police Command, Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu station, security operatives reportedly found that Mbah Mike could not give any information about the company whose identity card he holds.

“He said the identity card was forged to enable him board the flight to Enugu as he lost his original identity cards. No document found on him has any name like Mbah Mike. Complimentary cards and one other document found on him bears the name NDU WALTER CHUKS (Managing Director, WACHUNDU Oil & Gas services),” the PM News source explained.

Mbah Mike reportedly told police that he had no home in Nigeria as he shuttles between Congo, Abuja and Lagos supplying assorted wine and spirits to clients.

Mbah Mike who claims to have a wife and three kids who lives in London, has been charged and due to appear before a court in in Enugu on Friday, January 16.
