Tamara Samsonova was arrested this week for murdering her friend, 79-year-old Valentina Ulanova, by drugging her and cutting her up while she was still alive after getting into a fight over dirty tea cups, which is definitely in character for a killer who has been dubbed “Grannyball Lecter” by the press.

Samsonova was caught after being seen on CCTV footage hauling Ulanova’s body parts in a black plastic bag. Police then discovered Ulanova’s decapitated corpse in a nearby pond.

Ulanova’s murder prompted a police raid of Samsonova’s apartment, where evidence of even more grisly killings was found. Diaries kept by the murderous granny listed what police say could be up to 14 other victims, including Samsonova’s husband, who went missing in 2005.

Police also found the business card of a man whose decapitated and dismembered remains were found on Samsonova’s street 12 years ago.

One diary contained an entry in which the elderly woman described killing a lodger in her apartment building.

“I killed my tenant Volodya,” she wrote. “Cut him to pieces in the bathroom with a knife, put the pieces of his body in plastic bags and threw them away.”

Appearing before a judge after her arrest, Samsanova said, “I was getting ready for this court action for dozens of years. It was all done deliberately. With this last murder I closed the chapter.”
