A security guard, Nasiru Ribado from Jabi forest in Nigeria has been sentenced to six months prison term after he pleaded guilty to sleeping on duty,
Prosecutor, Mrs. Florence Auhioboh told the Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja that “The accused was expected to be on duty at the time the crime was committed but he deliberately abandoned his duty.

“The accused was sleeping and abandoned his duty post, paving the way for burglars to gain access into the complainant’s spare part shop,’’ she said.
The burglars, according to the prosecution, made away to the complainant’s goods worth N363, 000, and no amount of effort by the Utako Police could lead to the discovery of the goods stolen on December 8.
He was arraigned and convicted on a one-count charge of negligent conduct.
