The management of the General Hospital, Kubwa, a satellite town in Abuja, the Federal Capital Capital Territory, are at a loss on how to identify the family of a 2-year-old baby whose mother was killed by a hit-and-run driver and the baby has been stranded in the medical facility, reports Daily Trust.
It was gathered that the woman, a newspaper vendor simply identified as Mama Favour, had her daughter on her back while trying to run across the Abuja-Zuba Expressway when she was crushed by the speeding vehicle and while she died on the spot, the baby sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital but as there was no form of identification on the woman, it is difficult to tell where who she was or her address.
A witness said the baby survived because her mother flung her into a gutter as she lay lifeless at the centre of the road, as other speeding cars ran over her before the mangled corpse was evacuated while the killer driver reportedly ran away and the baby was rescued alive and rushed to the hospital.
The hospital is however, calling anyone who knows the family of the woman to come out and claim the baby.
