He posted the video to Facebook where so far it has over 8 million views so far, and many comments.

In the post, Womal said his neighbour called him into his house to show him the huntsman struggling up the fridge with the seemingly dead mouse in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"So I am just about to leave for work about 12:30 and me neighbour says 'You want to see something cool' and I say 'hell yeah'," he  wrote on the post.

After the post went viral, Womal  later wrote the spider was safe and had been named Hermie.

"We have adopted him and he is now running his own extermination business out of our town Coppabella," he said.

"Oh and he is now paying rent. Lol."

The huntsman spider, from the Sparassidae species is given this name because of their speed and mode of hunting. They are found through the world, in warm and tropical climates. In southern Africa they are known as rain spiders or lizard-eating spiders.
