14 junior secondary school pupils arrested for cultism

Fourteen pupils, aged between 12 and 15, were arrested last Thursday at Oguola Secondary School at Saint Saviour, Ikpoba Okha LGA of Edo state, for their alleged involvement in cultism related activities.

 

Police in Edo state have arrested 14 teenage Junior Secondary School pupils for their alleged involvement in cultism related activities.

gathered that the pupils, aged between 12 and 15, were arrested last Thursday at Oguola Secondary School at Saint Saviour, Ikpoba Okha LGA of the state.

A team of police had stormed the school and effected the arrest, following complaints by some parents.

It was also reported that emblems of cult groups were recovered from the suspects who are now being held at the Department of Criminal Investigation, Benin.

According to Punch, the Principal of school, identified as Ehanire, has appealed for the release of those found to be innocent.

Only last week, the police announced that “a total of 56 suspected vicious cultists linked to the recent violence in the state [Edo] have been rounded up by the Squad and are undergoing interrogation” by a  “Special Crack Squad designated for the assignment.”
