A 23-year-old porn star, August Ames has reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself after she refused to perform the erotic act with a male counterpart who she knew to be gay.

The award-winning porn star allegedly took her life following the myriad of backlash she had to suffer after the refusal to act with a gay man and a subsequent warning to other porn stars to desist from acting with gay men.

Ventura County Medical Examiner said August Ames hanged herself and was only found in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

In her last Tweeter post before the alleged suicide August Ames wrote: “Whichever (lady) performer is replacing me tomorrow for @EroticaXNews, you’re shooting with a guy who has shot gay porn, just to let cha know. BS is all I can say… Do agents really not care about who they’re representing? #ladirect I do my homework for my body’ After facing criticism for her comments she later added: ‘NOT homophobic. Most girls don’t shoot with guys who have shot gay porn, for safety. ‘Thats just how it is with me. I’m not putting my body at risk, i don’t know what they do in their private lives.”

According to the metro.co.uk, August Ames refused to perform with the gay man because she said the medical testing for gay porn stars differs from that of their straight counterparts. Her fear was that if care was not taken, she could contract HIV.
