Ritual murder hits Tarkwa

Between January and May 2016, this paper gathered that seven (7) people from the Northern region of Ghana living in the area died through some bizarre circumstances.

And all the seven, Today uncovered, died mysteriously with their tongues wagging.

Whilst some of the dead were alleged to be armed robbers, others, according to sources close to the bereaved families, had some parts of their bodies removed, indicating that there was more to it than the eyes could see.

According to sources, the situation has created so much fear and panic among non-indigenes of the town who live and work there, causing some of them to quit their jobs so as to save their lives.

Consequently, the residents from the Northern extraction who appeared to be the targets, Today learnt, petitioned the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the Municipal Police Commander over the issue.

Spokesperson for the Northerners in Kenyanko, Ebenezer Adua, confirmed their petition to the MCE stating that, “we have appealed to the MCE to do something about the murders which have been happening in this town.”

"We think that losing seven lives in five months is quite serious and that calls for urgent security attention in this area," Mr. Adua told this reporter on phone.

According to him, what caused more suspicion and fear among the people was the fact that out of about 1,000 residents of the town, all the seven people murdered within the five months were Northerners.

"We suspect that they were killed for ritual purposes because most of them were found later with some parts of their bodies missing, and thrown into the bush somewhere," he lamented.

However, while Mr. Adua was happy with the prompt attention by the MCE and the police commander after their petitions were sent, he urged them to expedite action on the case to bring to book the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
