Does religion really matter in the choice of a life partner?

Should one look at religion as a factor when it comes to getting married?

"Dear Pulse,

My name is Beatrice. My father is a pastor in one of Nigeria's biggest pentecostal churches while I practically grew up in the church. I have been my church's choir mistress and praise and worship leader.

But when I got to the university, I met and fell hopelessly in love with Tunde, a young man who is from a Muslim home.

We are so much in love and he has even promised to change his religion because of me. Now we are planning to get married but both our families would not hear of it.

My father in particular has vowed to disown me if I should go ahead to marry a Muslim while Tunde's parents have also kicked against our union.

But to make our situation more dire is the fact that I am currently three months for him and we have vowed never to abort the baby.

I want your readers to advice me on what to do here.

The options open to us are these:

1. To defy our parents and get married.

2. To run to another state and settle down.

3. To get an abortion and forget about each other.
