Jilted lover stabs rival in the eye

A young man who could not take the fact that his girlfriend was double dealing, has stabbed his rival in the eye.

A jilted lover who could not come to terms with the fact that his girlfriend dumped him for another man during the yuletide period, ran amok and in a fight, stabbed his rival in the eye on Christmas Day, 25th December, 2014. The incident which happened at the Maza Maza area in Amuwo Odofin local government area of Lagos State, is still sending ripples down the spines of eyewitnesses who say the stabbed man may not be able to use his eye again if urgent surgery is not carried out on him fast.

The angry lover identified as Kingsley, was said to have arrived at his lover’s residence on Alahun Ozumba Street and waited for her for several hours. Unknown to him, his girlfriend, whose name was given as Amarachi, had gone out to spend the day with another man identified as Kamoru.

It was gathered that by the time Amarachi came back accompanied by Kamoru, Kingsley, who had been drinking alcohol in the area before the duo returned, began to yell at the girl.

An eyewitness who simply identified himself as Tayo, narrated that Kingsley accused the girl of double-dating, an accusation she neither denied nor accepted.

Tayo further said that a woman identified as Mama Chioma tried to intervene by asking Amarachi to choose between the two men but that the girl said she could not choose one from the other as she loves them both.

It was at that point that the apparently drink Kingsley quickly grabbed a bottle, broke it and stabbed Kamoru in the eye.

According to the eyewitness:

"As if that was not enough, he also stabbed him on the right hand. Amarachi was begging him to stop the violence and instead of listening to the word of reason, he stabbed her on the shoulder.

Some young men came and immediately he sighted them, he took to his heels. They gave him a hot chase but he managed to escape."

The girl was said to have confessed that Kingsley gave her N30,000 for Christmas and she promised to go out with him on the fateful day only for Kamoru to arrive her home earlier and she had to follow him to an undisclosed destination before Kingsley could arrive.

The girl said she had the premonition that Kingsley could be somewhere close to her residence saying that she advised Kamoru to go back, promising to see him later that day and he agreed. She said she was surprised to see him by her side when she was almost close to the passage door of her residence.

"Before I could utter a word, Kingsley appeared from nowhere, screaming at me. I told him to calm down but he refused.

I perceived the odour of alcohol oozing from his mouth. He told me about a year ago that he hated alcohol and had not tasted it for over 10 years."
