25-year-old “kayayei” killed for stealing goat

A 25-year-old head porter (known locally as 'Kayaye') has been lynched by some unknown persons for allegedly stealing a goat.

The deceased, only identified as Yaw who practices his trade at Adumadze, a suburb of Mankessim was found dead on the compound of the Adumadze M.A Basic school in the morning  with broken blocks, stones and other objects which were apparently used in killing him scattered around the body.

Sergeant Raymond Asaba, the Central Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, said the Police had information that a dead body was lying on the School’s compound.

He said the Police rushed to the scene and found the deceased tied with a rope around his neck with a dead goat, which he was alleged to have stolen beside him.

The body had since been deposited at the Central Regional Teaching Hospital for autopsy, while the Police were conducting investigations into the matter.

Sergeant Asaba urged the public to hand over suspected criminals to the Police rather than lynching them.
