Armed robbers steal jewellery worth millions of Euros

The brazen attack happened at about midnight on Tuesday on the A6 motorway at Avallon, 220km south-east of Paris.

Jewellery worth nothing less than €9 million (about N1.8 billion) have been stolen from two armoured lorries at a French motorway toll booth. This is according to BBC.

The brazen attack happened at about midnight on Tuesday on the A6 motorway at Avallon, 220km south-east of Paris.

The thieves were said to have waited for the security vehicles at the Avallon toll booth, spraying some form of gas at the drivers when they arrived. The drivers were however unhurt and the lorries were later found, completely burnt some distance away.

Reports say the lorries had been carrying a consignment of diamonds, other jewels and works of art between Paris and the eastern city of Besancon.
