A 71-yr-old pastor, David Memeh, was reportedly shot and killed by unknown gunmen in the Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.
Foursquare Gospel Church pastor shot dead by unknown gunmen
The assailants had forced their way into the private residence of the 71-yr-old pastor
Punch reports that the assailants had forced their way into the private residence of the elderly pastor located on Reservation Road, Benin.
Rev. Memeh, who pastored a branch of the Foursquare Gospel Church, had fled to her wife’s bedroom on sighting the armed men.
But the gunmen reportedly trailed the cleric, shooting him twice before he died.
It was gathered that wife of the victim, Alice Memeh, said her husband had begged to be spared before he was killed.
Deaconess Memeh explained that the gunmen gained entrance into their apartment through the window in her husband’s room.
The two killers, she said, slapped her husband severally before shooting him, adding that the assailants only made away with mobile phones belonging to her and her late husband, Punch says.
She also appealed to the state government to apprehend the culprits.
She said, “I ran out after I heard gunshots, but the killers had left.
“My husband is dead. I will appreciate if the government can arrest the killers.”
Confirming the incident, the Edo Police Command, DSP Stephen Onwochei, said investigation had commenced on the matter.
