News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the convict was arraigned on a one-count charge of illicit sexual intercourse by the National Agency for the Prohibition in Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP).

He was found guilty by the presiding judge, Justice J. K. Omotosho, who, while delivering judgment, said that the court was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the convict committed the offence and convicted him without an option of fine.

Before the sentencing, Abdullahi’s counsel, Jamilu Ahmed, had pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy as he was a first time offender.

Ahmed also told the court that the convict who is married with children, is the bread winner of his family and has an aged mother, adding that Abdullahi was remorseful and had been remanded in custody for close to one year.

But Justice Omotosho refused to listen to the plea of the counsel, stating the convict’s unrepentant attitude during the trial.
