The 39-year-old wife, Fadekemi Adeleye, lamented that her present husband Adeleye Ojo beats her far more than her ex-husband.

Fadekemi lamented over the fact her husband flares up over the slightest provocation, Punch reports.

She said, “I regretted that I took money from my present husband to file a divorce against my former husband.

“I have become a laughing stock in the area we live because of the beating and public disgrace.

“People in our area now call me “Titilayo” meaning “There is joy in beating.”

“My incumbent husband disgraces me in public, accusing me of having extra-marital affairs,” the woman said.

Fadekemi also pleaded with the court to grant her custody of their only daughter, Precious Adeleye, as well as a court order for the release of her property in their matrimonial home.

However, the defendant denied the allegations of constant fights between himself and his wife, saying that he is not interested in a divorce.

Mr. Adeleye said that he did not want his daughter to suffer, hence the need to stay together despite the fact that his wife wants out of the marriage.

The three-man panel presiding over the court reminded Fadekemi of its earlier plea that she allow for a peaceful and an amicable settlement between her and her former husband.

It also reminded her that she had insisted that she was blinded by love for her new husband.

The court’s president, Mrs. Yemisi Ojo, later adjourned the case to March 27 for the continuation of hearing.
