American boxer earns a week what Barack Obama earns in a year

Obamas net worth is put around $12.2m, which is just about 10% the amount Mayweather will take home when he steps into the ring with Manny Pacquaio on May 2.

Floyd Mayweather just signed a new deal for a fight with Filipino Manny Pacquaio that would see him earn $120m in one night.

Pacquaio going home with $80m, whether he wins or loses.

Besides this ground breaking bout, Mayweather 37, has been raking in millions on daily basis; much more than the head of the American government has earned since he became president in 2008.

In 2014, he was rated the highest earning sportsman by Forbes, the world’s number one data and statistics source.

The official gazette from the white house on the amount of money the president is entitled to clearly puts Obama down the ladder with Mayweather sitting on top and looking down on him.

‘’Since 2001, the president has earned a $400,000annual salary, along with a $50,000 annual expense account, a $100,000 nontaxable travel account, and $19,000 for entertainment. The most recent raise in salary was approved by Congress and President Bill Clinton in 1999 and went into effect in 2001.’’

Obama is calculated to be worth $12.2m, which is just about 10% the amount Mayweather will take home when he steps into the ring with Manny Pacquaio on May 2.

Compared to other boxers, Mayweather can be crowned king of the ring, coupled with his unbeaten record of 47 wins in professional fights.

The average boxer earns partly around $76,000 dollars, a meagre sum if placed sid-by-side with the Money Man’s financial payout.

The American also beats Cristiano Ronaldo whose total $58m annual payout combines both the money he makes from endorsements and salary from Real Madrid.

Mayweather makes his money from boxing bouts and money generated from Pay-Per-Views; he has not even a single endorsement deal.
