Officials have met with manufacturers to prepare the roll-out of toilets in elevators across the country, after dozens of people were left in danger of wetting themselves for over an hour, when an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 hit Tokyo on Saturday (30.05.15).Cardboard chamber pots and a waterproof bag along with emergency water supplies will be installed in Japan's 620,000 lifts - most of which stopped automatically after the quake hit. Scientists are convinced that a massive shock is almost certain to hit the city in the next few decades. Officials estimated that 17,000 people could get stuck in lifts when that happens.
