Ayitey and the victim Daniel Norteye are both dancers. Ayitey tried to behead Norteye when they were both sleeping in his (Ayitey) room on Sunday, July 31 at about 4:00am.

Daniel Norteye narrated that the two of them went for dancing rehearsal on Saturday (July 30) at Adjetey Ansah a suburb of Tema Newtown. “The rehearsals ended at 1:30am on Sunday and since my house was a bit far from the rehearsal grounds, my friend asked me to spend the night in his house and go home the next day which I agreed” Norteye explained.

He continued that when he woke up in the middle of the night, he saw Ayitey standing by him. But when he inquired why he wasn’t sleeping, Ayitey gave him a flimsy excuse.

Norteye continued the narration saying “At about 4:00am while sleeping, I felt a sharp cut in my throat so I woke up only to see my friend with a knife in hand trying to slit my throat to death. I had to try and struggle with him until I overpowered him and run out of the room to my aunt’s house which was not too far from the place.”

His aunt upon seeing him called his father who informed some boys in the neighbourhood to help arrest the suspect. He was handed over to the police by the boys.

Meanwhile, Tema Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into the matter. Public Relations Officer of the Regional Command ASP Juliana Obeng said a stinking beheaded snake, egg shells, a doll and powder, which was sprinkled around the room were found in Ayitey’s room after a preliminary search in his room. ASP Obeng said the suspect explained that he took the beheaded snake from a friend. ASP Obeng also said Aryitey would be arraigned immediately they finish investigations into the matter.
