Farmer killed for claiming his own gun

The thirty-year-old farmer and father of two met his untimely death when he went to his friend, Kofi Benya to pursue a gun he had given him for hunting expeditions.

The Elmina police in the Central Region are on a manhunt for hunter Kofi Benya for allegedly shooting his farmer friend, Atta Panin dead.

The incident happened at Warabeba, a suburb of Ayensudo in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem Municipality of the Central region.

According to reports, the two had reached an agreement to share the spoils from the hunting expedition, but the accused failed to go by the earlier agreement.

The deceased had reportedly retrieved his gun, but was shot unexpectedly when he was leaving his friend’s house.

The deceased was subsequently rushed to the Central regional hospital by nearby residents, some of whom upon hearing of the death of the farmer attempted to burn down the house of the accused and his known allies.

The case has been reported to the Elmina police who are on a manhunt for the accused.

Kofi Benya who is currently at large is reportedly in the bad books of the police already  for threatening the deceased some time ago. He was made to sign a bond of good behavior.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Central regional hospital for postmortem.
