Thief dies after he got electrocuted underground

The deceased whose body has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy and identification, had gone to allegedly steal a high tension cable belonging to the ECG.

A 30-year-old man has lost his life at Takoradi Technical University in the Western Region after he got electrocuted in an attempt to allegedly steal underground cable belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana.

Public relations Officer of the Western Regional Police command, ASP Olivia Adiku who confirmed the incident to the media revealed that the ECG had dug a trench to figure out a fault on their underground high tension 33 cable.

ASP Adiku said the deceased later went into the dugout with a cutlass and cutter in ostensibly to cut the cable. However, unfortunately, he got electrocuted and died at the scene.

The body of the deceased according to the police, has been removed from the pit and deposited at the Effia Nkwanta hospital morgue for identification and autopsy.
