A Magistrate’s Court 12 in Ebute Meta, Nigeria remanded a bricklayer, Akinyemi Edgar Koja into prison custody on Tuesday, after he admitted to strangling his 28-year-old graduate wife to death on suspicion that she had been sleeping with other men.
He was recently arrested in Lagos state where he had been hiding, and when interrogated, Akinyemi Edgar Koja confessed to the crime.

He said: “I strangled her at night while she was sleeping. She was sleeping around with other men because she felt I am a poor man and she did not hide it. That fateful night, I suffocated her with pillows.
“When I discovered she was dead, I dumped the body inside a well close to our apartment. I ran away to make it look like I was not around when the incident happened.”
When he made his first appearance in court, the presiding magistrate, Mrs Bola Folarin Williams remanded him and adjourned the case to March 28 for further hearing.
