The 2017 State of the Nation’s address delivered by President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo was not only about the economy and the politics of Ghana as proven by the guests who thronged Parliament’s house.

Fashion and beauty were some of the key points of the event which is stipulated by the 1992 constitution.

Ghana’s politicians and high-profile personalities have over the years been under the scrutiny of the media as well as the public over how they look every time they appear in public.

All eyes were on the usual suspects including President Akufo-Addo, First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Mrs Samira Bawumia, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Adjoa Sarfo and other parliamentarians to slay like their lives depended on it at the event.

President Akuffo Addo

Ghana’s first gentleman, H.E Akufo-Addo who has a penchant for picking very spick and span suits was decked in a charcoal black suit with his signature glasses for the event

Rebecca Akufo-Addo

The first lady was also radiant in kaba and slit that was made from kente-like African print. She accessorised with gold earrings and necklace paired with a gold bag.

Samira Bawumia

Samira Bawumia also dazzled in a blue and black batakari outfit with a turquoise blue turban for the event.

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings

The former lady who has had the tag for best-dressed first lady since independence didn’t disappoint in a wax-print jacket and slit. Her stylish headwrap and matching clutch were also visible as she attended the address

J.J Rawlings

Flt. Jerry John Rawlings came in a white polished cotton long-sleeved shirt over black pants which has gradually become his signature attire to every public event

Adwoa Sarfo

The deputy majority leader, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo is seriously giving Mrs Bawumia a run for her money, as the young lawyer continues to show her impeccable knowledge of fashion and style via the outfits she wears. Today’s event saw her glowing in a beaded v-neck kente dress with glam makeup and braids.

Anthony Karbo

Member of Parliament for Lawra, Anthony Karbo also joined the best-dressed gang with his cap and a blue and red batakari smock for the occasion.

Hajia Alima Mahama

Minister for Local Government, Hajia Alima Mahama who also doubles as Member of Parliament killed it in her gele and blue and white lace outfit as she listened attentively to the president

Hon. Kyei Mensah-Bonsu

The majority leader and minister for parliamentary affairs couldn’t hide his joy in light blue agbada and cap as he welcomed the president on the floor of parliament

The acting Inspector General of Police, Asante Apeatu also showed he was a man of class, style and taste in his blue and black ceremonial uniform.
