Airtel Ghana headlines Accra's 2nd independently organized TED event

Under the theme, Rethink, this year’s event features scores of accomplished speakers who will challenge attendees to rethink possibilities in a week of sharing ideas, climaxed by two speaking events on Wednesday, April 20, and Saturday April 23.

 

The independently organised event, affiliated to the world’s most distinguished and celebrated platform for sharing ideas – TED – is set to attract thousands of Ghanaians to the second of its highlight event during the conference week, at the National Theatre on Saturday 23rd April 2016.

Speaking to Airtel’s association with TEDxAccra, Rosy Fynn, Marketing Director at Airtel said “we are delighted to be partnering TEDxAccra as headline sponsors for this year’s event. This association is in line with our commitment to unlock potentials by creating the platform for Ghanaians to connect, share ideas and create possibilities together. As the industry’s leader in data, digital and service innovation, we understand too well the importance of such a platform to birthing breakthrough ideas”.

As headline sponsors, Airtel is making available its innovative Airtel Money platform to enable patrons purchase tickets at the convenience of their homes or offices.

“To purchase a ticket via Airtel Money, customers only need to dial *500#, select ‘Buy Goods option’, select other and enter the nickname TEDxACCRA and an electronic ticket will be sent to them via txt message. Customers can also obtain tickets from any Airtel shop or retail outlets. All Airtel customers participating in the event will be treated to an unforgettable experience throughout the Saturday April 23 session as we storm the National Theatre with our benefit partners to reward customers for their partnership and loyalty. Non Airtel customers will also be exposed to our superior offers at the session”.

On his side, Daniel Antwi, Business Manager at TEDxAccra indicated that “the purpose of the event is to create hope and possibilities for the future leaders of Ghana and Africa as a whole. We want to use our platform to “inspire the minds that inspire our continent”.

As part of the plan to extend the reach of the event, the Smartphone Network in collaboration with organisers of TEDxAccra will activate a live-streaming center at Kumasi Hive powered by Airtel’s unbeatable high speed internet to give patrons in Kumasi a delightful and immersive experience.

TEDxAccra is an annual event, where thinkers and doers of our community gather to create and share ideas. It seeks to develop and leverage the TED experience at a community level, bringing together innovative thinkers to connect and discuss great ideas. At TEDxAccra, participants will take part in a TED-like experience that will ultimately equip and inspire them into boundless possibilities.
