AIM HIGHER AFRICA celebrates exceptional women in the 'More Than A Woman' campaign

The campaign is a celebration of some of the most exceptional women in Africa and seeks to encourage the advancement and development of women across various industries and sectors.

Today marks the maiden edition of the 'More Than A Woman' campaign launched by Aim Higher Africa. The campaign is a celebration of some of the most exceptional women in Africa and seeks to encourage the advancement and development of women across various industries and sectors. The event, which is set to take place today, Friday 27th March at 7pm at the Kaya Energy Bar in Labone, is proudly brought to you by Aim Higher Africa, an international not-for-profit organisation operating in Africa with a focus on building stronger communities, neighborhoods, and economies through social projects that seek to Inspire, Educate and Empower a new Africa. Aim Higher Africa aims through its projects to help build a prosperous and innovative Africa driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena.

'More Than A Woman' is supported by Woodin, Paba Cosmetics and Martini Royale and powered by Pulse.com.gh with media partner Viasat 1. In launching the event, Aim Higher Africa has selected a handful of women who embody their core values. Meet the exceptional women who are truly 'More Than A Woman':

ANITA ERSKINE 

Anita Erskine is the founder of BrandWoman Africa an organisation designed to project the advancement of women across all African societies and in the Diaspora through television. With her innate desire to showcase the vision, determination and drive that almost every African woman is celebrated for, join the inspirational Anita as she speaks candidly on her vision for brand woman Africa and the desire to see women make their mark. This pan African media mogul is the host of the hit Viasat 1 show, the one show, discovery +233, making of a mogul and pamper your mum.

OFIE KODJOE

Ofie is a talented soul music singer and MTN Hitmaker reality show judge. She has always been an advocate for youth development and has over 25 years of training and development under her belt. She mentors young artistes and other young business visionaries helping them develop with a focus on branding and pursuing ones passion. She is the advocate on behalf of social causes, namely the Sophie’s Voice foundation (SVF), a charitable organisation established to assist families of children struggling with spina bifida and other neural tube defects and has started her own foundation which aims to empower young people across Africa.

PEACE HYDE

The multi talented and versatile TV presenter, Actress and Event Host has already made a mark in her short time in the entertainment industry. She is a qualified education specialist with 7 years experience in the formal education sector in the UK and Africa as well as a trained senior management executive. Peace Hyde is the host of the Friday Night Live show, a talk show that seeks to shed a light on social issues affecting women and Africans from all walks of life. She is the official Mara Mentor brand ambassador in Ghana, an organization that seeks to empower young minds by connecting them with business leaders to provide mentorship and guidance as well as a blogger of the popular Piece of Peace series, which is a weekly inspirational column, designed to empower the youth by providing practical life changing principles.  Peace Hyde is passionate about empowering women to reach their fullest potential.

CHRISTIE BROWN

Aisha is the creative mastermind behind the internationally acclaimed luxury fashion label, Christie Brown which was named after another inspiring female, Aisha’s grandmother. Her clothes embody the perfect mixture of African inspiration with chic modern style. In addition to global coverage by magazines including Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue Italia, this signature has earned Aisha the title of Emerging Designer of the Year in 2009 at the Arise Africa Fashion Week in South Africa and the chance to show her collection as the only Ghanaian label in the Arise L’Afrique-a-Porter at Paris Fashion Week in 2010. She has also represented the Ghanaian fashion industry at both the Africa Economic Forum hosted by Columbia University and the “African Fashion Going Global” panel as a respected voice in business. She endeavors to continue to make women everywhere look and feel confident and classy when wearing her clothes.

AMA K ABEBRESE

The award winning actress, Ama K. Abebrese has earned her spot on the list for her dazzling success as an actress, television presenter, and producer thanks to her talent and hard work. In her upcoming film, Beast of No Nation, she stars alongside U.S. actor Idris Elba, Grace Nortey and others to tell the story of a child soldier in West Africa. Ama has won several awards for her work hosting A New Day on TV3 and, formerly, A Day in the Life on Viasat 1 with her winning personality. Many of us remember her gripping role in internationally-acclaimed film ’Sinking Sands,’ a project that led to her being voted the Best Actress in a Leading Role at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2011. As a testament to women’s ability to truly do it all, she has also produced a number of shows including One Touch and On the Sofa. Ama K launched the inspirational “bleaching” campaign, advocating women to love their skins and say no to bleaching.
