Two students of the University for Development Studies (UDS) at Tamale lost their books and other personal items when fire gutted their hall on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire destroyed parts of the Bank of Ghana block of the School of Allied Science.

According to reports, the fire started around 4pm and destroyed one of the lecture halls of the block.
The timely intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) prevented the fire from spreading other parts of the block.
Among the items destroyed in the lecture hall by the fire are four air conditioners, 49 desks and six ceiling fans.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Tamale, who went to put out the fire, said the fire the fire station received a distress call at 4.07pm on Tuesday and arrived at the scene of the fire at.27pm.

The Northern Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, Assistant Divisional Officer, Mr. Paul Opoku Aikins said the team managed to extinguish the fire at 4.45pm.
No casualty was recorded.
