The government has promise to release funds to all Senior High Schools for the commencement of the free SHS policy by the close of the week.
The assurance comes at the back of protest made by the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) calling on the government to release funds for the SHSs before school resumes.

The various SHSs will open on September 11, 2017 but CHASS has expressed concern about government’s failure to release funds to the schools.
The government promised to make 20 percent of the funds two weeks before re-opening for the implementation of the programme available to the schools before the start of the programme.

But the Deputy Minister in charge of pre-tertiary education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum addressing the 55th National Conference in Ho said "your money [Free SHS funds] will soon hit your accounts."
He further indicated that the funds would by the end of the conference on Friday be in their accounts of the schools.
He stated that government was aware of their challenges and was committed to ensuring the start of the policy.

"We have no reason to keep your money because we will not give you a responsibility and not equip you to execute the responsibility," he said.
