Blakk Rasta apologises to Parliament

Blakk Rasta appeared as a witness before the committee to assist in investigation of contemptuous remarks he made on his show.

Controversial radio presenter and reggae musician, Blakk Rasta has apologised for his utterances which suggested that about 80% Ghanaian parliamentarians smoke “wee”.

“I would like to apologize for those unfortunate comments which sometimes come when you are on heat. If you check the interview it was on something else. This came on the spur of moment. We all know the importance of being an MP. It’s an unfortunate remark.... Hours after the publication I was made to see it and I said who said that, and I said wow, pull it down. 2 days later, I saw the newspaper publication,” he said when he appeared before the Privileges Committee of Parliament on Thursday.

He added: “My statements on the legalization of marijuana were a passionate appeal for the balancing of our economy”.

This was shortly after his Lawyer, Thaddeus Sory said his client was remorseful and would want to apologize.

“We have learnt our lessons and i dont think we will repeat that. Regardless of the truth, contempt is contempt. We came here to apologize. He should never say anything that affronts the body of parliament. We can not sit here and say it can be justified. On behalf of my client we apologize for it.”
