Gasmilla says Ghana Music Awards treats him unfairly, reveals exciting project for Homowo

With the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards over, Gasmilla shares his views on the awards and lets us into his upcoming singles, plans for the Homowo festival and more.

One of Ghana's most vibrant musicians, Gasmilla has revealed his plans for new music, as well as a special project for the Homowo Festival in our exclusive Pulse One On One interview. The proudly Ga artist talked about what he perceives as an unfair treatment by the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards over the years. He said:

"I believe that I don't get what I deserve almost all the time. In 2013/2014 I dropped a banger that topped almost every chart in GH, and went ahead to top The Afrobeat Top 100 in South Africa. It was a banger in the UK and all over Europe. I got only one nomination for that. It was a song that did things that other songs didn't do but they ended up getting awards. But as the saying goes, life is not fair and I don't expect this one to be fair as well but I just expect them to give credit to who deserves what."

He continues, "This year I wasn't nominated at all. I dropped 5 videos and did lots of singles and yet I wasn't nominated. But God being so good, He rewarded me with the biggest banger on the streets now, which is 'Telemor'. I am grateful for that because it shows that I am relevant."

Gasmilla also talked about releasing a new hiphop song 'Empty Barrels', which would let Ghanaians see his hip-hop side. "I'm about to prove that lyrically, I am on another level," he said.

He always revealed his special plans for the Homowo Festival in 2015, which includes clean up beaches and music jams with the likes of Edem, Shatta Wale, Joey B, Sarkodie and others in the principal Ga Communities.

He explained, "The plan is to bring the stars that the people in the fishing communities, who don't get to see these stars. Some of them cannot afford to see artists like that at The Dome, Conference Centre or the National Theatre. So I am bringing all of that entertainment to them because I know they are going to help in cleaning the beaches, and together make sure that Accra and Ghana is a clean place to stay."
