"MUSIGA members will not take Shatta Wale's comments seriously"

I don’t think he has something against me. I have not offended him either. I just think controversy is part of his art," said Obour.

Shatta Wale in a Twitter rant yesterday (Dec. 21) alleged that Obour is not serving the purpose of the musicians’ union thus he should resign.

Shatta Wale started his rant by asking Obour to resign and also discussed the frustrations of musicians about how Obour had misused funds of the union.

Responding to these allegations, Obour told Pulse.com.gh that ‘any member of the union will not take Shatta Wale’s comments serious.’

“This is not new. He has been doing this for the past two years. Shatta Wale drives on a lot of controversies so I am sure any MUSIGA member will take his comments seriously. The members of the union who see the works will not take these comments seriously.

Anybody who takes these comments seriously is not a MUSIGA member. We launched MUSIGA Academy, MUSIGA Grand Ball, peace campaigns and all that so when these comments come from people who are not members and don’t see the developments, we treat those comments as comments that are coming from outside,” Obour told Pulse.com.gh

When quizzed whether there is a ‘friction’ between them, Obour said Shatta Wale has nothing against him. He also asserted that controversy is part of Wale’s persona and that he does it occasionally to get the media talk about it.

“I don’t think he has something against me. I have not offended him either. I just think controversy is part of his art. Periodically, he picks on people and has the media talk about it.”

This is not the first time Shatta Wale has levelled these allegations against the MUSIGA president. Some months before Obour was re-elected for a second term, the “Chop Kiss” hitmaker took to Twitter to accuse him of being incompetent and corrupt. He later bashed him for not involving himself in his (Shatta Wale's) court case with Charterhouse, the organisers of the annual Ghana Music Awards.
