Obaapa Christy sang Daddy Lumba’s controversial hit song “Yenti Obiaa” and got people wondering if it was appropriate for her to sing such songs as renowned gospel singer. Well, now she has the answer!

Obaapa Christy explained that if a gospel singer sings secular music, it does not make him or her evil and there is nothing wrong with it as some of those songs offer inspiration and motivation to people.

Speaking on Atinka FM’s mid-morning show, “Edwuma oo”, she said, “Many of these so-called secular musicians offer inspiration and direction to people; some even offer fruitful advise to the depressed in society”.

The singer also added that she admires some  secular music from artists including Daddy Lumba, Samini, Kwaw Kese, Kwabena Kwabena and Sarkodie because of their dedication and commitment to the job.

“I sometimes take inspiration from them; I enjoy Samini’s music as well as his energetic stage performances. If you want to improve your music career, you should be selective; you must learn from difference artistes particularly, their stage performances and the quality they add to the various compositions,” she added.
