Ghanaian artiste, Sarkodie has been sued for failing to show up at an event he was booked to perform at on 7 November, 2015 in Russia.

In a statement to Pulse.com.gh, the plaintiff, Lawrence Ampene Larson Darko, operating under the name and style, Skip Management claims his event company completed arrangements to get Sarkodie perform at Club Moskva in Moscow as part of the artiste’s Sarkodie Euro Tour but the artiste did not make it.

According to the plaintiff,  he “had series of discussions with the Defendant  in order to secure smooth passage for him and his crew to be able to travel to Russia and towards that objective, the Plaintiff sent the necessary documents to the Defendants and his managers to enable them acquire visas in Ghana to visit Russia.”

However, Sarkodie chose to apply for the Russian visa in France instead of Ghana as earlier agreed on by the parties and for which reason the Plaintiff had sent the necessary document to the Defendant in Ghana.

“…in consequence of the Defendant’s neglect or refusal to apply for the visa in Ghana, the much publicised show in Moscow could not come off as anticipated,” the statement added.

It continues: “Plaintiff contends that the failure of the Defendant to make it to Russia was self-induced and was as a result of his negligence and that if the Defendant had put in the visa application in Ghana, he would not have been denied the visa.”

In all, the Plaintiff is seeking four reliefs:

  1. An order directed at the Defendants to pay to the Plaintiff the sum of two thousand euros (€2,000) being the balance of refund to be made by the Defendant and eleven thousand, six hundred and fifty-six dollar ($11,656) being various sums incurred by the Plaintiff in preparation for the show and loss of income had the show been performed.

  2. Interest on sums of two thousand euros, and eleven thousand, six hundred and fifty-six United States dollars at the prevailing commercial bank rate from 7 November, 2015 till date of final payment.

  3. General damages for breach of contract.

  4. Costs inclusive of legal expenses.
