Looks like the funnyman was doing all he can to beat Ellen DeGeneres 2014 term. But did he pull it off?

2015 Oscar host Neil Patrick Harris couldn't help but beat Ellen DeGeneres' 2014 term when he showed up on stage in a pair of white dross!

Apparently, the actor had just made an ill-timed joke shortly after film producer Dana Perry dedicated her Oscar win to her son who had committed suicide.

The 41-year-old star ignored her tragedy and went for her dress by saying, "It takes a lot of balls to wear a dress like that."

Harris immediately received a backlash on social media for "disrespecting" the dead. @TajMagruder wrote: 'When thinking about making a ball joke after a woman mentions her son's suicide, don't. (cc: @actuallyNPH)'

Well, to revive his comic image in front of the star-studded audience, Harris pulled off a spoof that ended with him hitting the stage in a pair of Y-Fronts.The funnyman looked quite comfortable in the underwear as he introduced the next presenters... Miles Teller and Margot Robbie.

Harris covered his manhood as he walked off stage but he continued his semi-nude parade backstage as he watched part of his presentation on a monitor with several other stage producers.It almost looked like he didn't need his black tux after all!
