Ghanaian celebrities that you didn't realize competed in beauty pageants

Here are 11 female Ghanaian celebrities who got successful without winning the Miss Malaika.

Even though the crown will only be given to one person every year, other ladies who participate in the beauty pageant can use the platform in bettering themselves and their career both in and outside the entertainment industry through the exposure and experience that comes with it.

Several of our beloved female celebrities took that opportunity when it came and since Miss Malaika 2016 is around the corner.

We take a look at 10 Ghanaian celebrities who didn’t win the Malaika Crown but are still living their dreams with regards to showbiz and entertainment.

Berla Mundi

Berla Addardey known in showbiz circles as Berla Mundi also joins the list of Malaika delegate who didn’t win the crown but still found a career in Entertainment. She’s been very vocal about the role Miss Malaika played in her rise to the top. The Radio/TV Host host was 2nd runner-up at the 2010 Miss Malaika.

Caroline Sampson

Radio/TV personality and Model, Caroline Sampson is a Malaika alumnus who competed in the 2005 edition. Ms. Sampson failed to snatch the crown but found her way into radio, TV, modelling and other ventures after the exposure she gained from the show.

Deborah Vanessa

Deborah Vanessa Owusu-Bonsu popularly known as Sister Duurbie is also another celebrity who eyed the enviable Malaika crown in 2005.  The “African mermaid” as she calls herself sometimes  went home as the 1stRunner-up but she’s turned her Malaika experiences into a full fledging career in modelling, presenting, fashion and even music.

Priscilla Opoku Agyeman

Long before Priscilla Opoku Agyeman came into the limelight as Ahuof3 Patri in the Kalybos Series. She was a Miss Malaika delegate in the 2011 edition. The beauty is now a sought after actress in the movie industry.

Christabel Ekeh

Another actress who didn’t win Miss Malaika but has still made it big in the industry is Christabel Ekeh. She was  the 1st Runner Up during the 2008 show.

Regina Krave

Radio and TV host, Regina Van Helvert was also a Malaiaka delegate in 2012. She failed to snatch the crown but she walked away as the 1st Runner-up.

Roselyn Ashkar

Roselyn Ashkar is not a big name in the fashion industry but Ghana’s rep during the first edition of Africa’s Next Top Model was a Miss Malaika contestant in 2010. She is currently based in South Africa where she’s modeled for  a lot of big brands including Levis, Mr. Price, Mr. & Mrs. Jewelery, YDE Campaign and much more.

Karen Kash

Karen Kash Kane as she is popularly known in fashion circles is another Malaika graduate who is doing so well in the showbiz industry. The stylist and fashion retailer joined the Miss Malaika pageant in 2005. She’s worked with celebrities including Berla Mundi, Becca, Naa Ashorkor and Joselyn Dumas

Ama Ampofo

The phenomenal Ama Ampofo was a part of the 2012 Miss Malaika squad. The AMAA award winning actress and model has starred in a number of commercials for banks and movies to her credit.

Annita Akuffo

The host of Fashion and style show, FashionGh is also a former Malaika delegate. Annita, a former student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) was a Miss Malaika 2014 delegate.
